Lead workload activities of the assigned department by planning, scheduling and prioritizing activities in collaboration with site supervisors through office and field meetings. Plan, schedule, and analyze execution to generate successful resolution of issues. Manage and maintain the integrity of the information management systems to achieve the assigned planning and scheduling objectives. 
  • Under the guidance of the Equipment Management System (EMS), interact with the Supervisor in the assigned area to establish and monitor planned schedules for assigned activities
  • Conduct and participate in daily, weekly and monthly planning meetings with key stakeholders
  • Review, prioritize and schedule work orders
  • Establish and maintain a history for all assigned activities in the Management System
  • Engage with onsite Global Sourcing to control warehouse minimum/maximum levels and appropriate storage conditions of materials and parts
  • Support execution of contracts by preparing scopes of work for internal and external jobs
  • Initiate requests for parts and materials
  • Interface with Global Sourcing department, but may deal directly with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  • Responsible for “Runtime Forecasting” process execution and outcomes in assigned area
  • Provide guidance and mentor Planner I personnel in Freeport-McMoRan practices in addition to sound planning and scheduling techniques
  • Support the area Supervisor in all facets of job preparation, execution and follow up as prescribed by the Freeport-McMoRan standards, including time spent “in the field” to ensure readiness and availability of materials and equipment resources
  • Develop, monitor and adjust schedules for assigned activities.  Maintain these schedules in the Management System
  • Collaborate with other Planners and first line Supervisors in the long range planning and scheduling for planned major production shutdowns, including but not limited to, job identification, job priority, resource requirements, materials requirements, budget forecasts and interdepartmental coordination
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of information in the Management System to achieve the assigned planning and scheduling objectives in assigned area
  • Assist with maintenance management decisions, including departmental budgets and weekly forecasting
  • Ensure adequate forecasting of large dollar maintenance materials to meet maintenance and financial requirements
  • Generate regular and ad hoc reports for site management, to assist with the measurement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Perform other duties as needed


Minimum Qualifications


  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of specific experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations OR

  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations including four (4) years of specific Planning experience OR

  • Associates in a technical field and four (4) years related experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations, OR

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and two (2) years of related experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations



  • Understanding Part Manuals, OEM Drawings.

  • Able to lead a team through the 4 steps, the “Prioritization of Equipment.” Critical, essential, non-essential, run to failure.

  • Ability to compile standard reports

  • Understanding of key safety processes, LOTOTO, FRM, SOP, Safety Observations

  • Demonstrated ability to be mobile (willingness to move to different departments or divisions)

  • Demonstrate professional, effective written and oral communications to present a position and/or influence employees and supervisors

  • Mentor and train new planners (I) in your team

  • Run Business Object (BO) Reports

  • Create Report variants and layouts in SAP

  • Able to perform Material Tracking

  • Able to perform DCPR submission

  • Able to perform Functional Location and Equipment structure searching

  • Able to Monitor Maintenance Plans for execution

  • Understand how to attach Measurement Documents

  • Able to perform Lead time and Inventory Level analysis

  • Has working knowledge of the MARS Process as well as the CARS Process and Objectives

  • Understand proper coding practices and use of MOs: distinguish between use of AGP vs. PCR

  • Plan MOs (estimate labors, materials, tools, work durations)

  • Prepare Bid documents

  • Understand technical flow of operational plants and upstream/ downstream impacts

  • Skilled in Interpreting PdM result effectively

  • Able to perform Fit/ Defit



  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
