This position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship:

  • A foreign national working in a full-time status on an F-1 visa may be considered for H-1B visa sponsorship based on business needs, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. 
  • A foreign national working in a full-time status may be considered for employment-based permanent residency sponsorship, based on business needs, completion of six (6) months of employment, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval.  

 

Where You Will Work    

 

Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations.  Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors.

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, provide complex and diversified support cost control, schedule, change management/forecasting, progress measurement, and reporting. While this position is primarily virtual, it will require business travel to Arizona for roughly 25%–50% of the summer.

  • Assist in monitoring project controls for assigned projects. This will include the management of effective change management systems.
  • Review/processing of invoices, manage and control vendor payments, recovery of overpayments, monitor and manage back charges.
  • Assist in cost control function, including preparation of project forecasts, cash call projections, cost reporting, capturing and reporting costs amalgamating FMI and EPCM systems, and maintaining budget reporting integrated within the change management system.
  • Assist in monitoring progress performance and address issues identified by controls manager or PM.
  • Assist in schedule reviews and perform schedule analysis.
  • Assist in reporting requirements.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in an appropriate Construction Management discipline or related field of Engineering; OR
  • Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Construction Management or related field of Engineering.

  • The estimated pay range for this role is currently $28.25 - $35.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
