What You Will Do
- Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.
- Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
- Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
- Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.
- Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
- HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills
- Ability to troubleshoot machine systems
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with others
- Ability to read and use blueprints
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
