Description

Lead a significant size section of educational professionals.  Accountable and responsible for the implementation of a significant range of competency based learning and assessment programs to a culturally diverse range of learners in both on job and off job situations.  Contribute to the department and overall division team efforts, at all times demonstrating those behaviors that fully support technical training values policies and procedures.

 

  • Implement technical training values, policies and procedures, Freeport-McMoRan SHE policies and procedures within the section
  • Contribute to the overall team effort and teamwork within the Technical Training department
  • Ensure that all competency based learning programs are professionally designed, evaluated and delivered/facilitated in a wide range of on and off the job situations in order to meet Freeport-McMoRan customer employee development needs and quality standards
  • Ensure that section employees thoroughly understand and competently apply professionally accepted principles of adult learning so that all competency based programs delivered utilize these principles, giving learners maximum opportunity to learn and develop job competence
  • Ensure that all delivery and assessment schedules are designed and implemented in such a way as to ensure that programs are delivered to meet section strategic targets and customer requirements
  • Implement all aspects of the company Learning Management System and ensure all participant learning and assessment data/results are accurately recorded and reported so that participant records are consistently kept up-to-date and accurately recorded
  • Seek and respond to customer learning and assessments, and provide customers with competent advice and support regarding the wide range of technical training services and products in order to assist technical training to meet /exceed customer expectations
  • Ensure that the technical and instructional competence of all section employees, particularly instructional employees, is developed thereby ensuring that they effectively deliver and assess competency based learning programs offered by the section
  • Review employee development needs of customers to deliver the required competency improvement targets
  • Create the section’s annual Strategic Business Plan and Budget in consultation with the customers and the department manager, and ensure that this plan contains defined business improvement strategies in order to ensure that the section supports department and Company efforts to continually improve SHE performance and productivity
  • Adjust content and rates of delivery of Learning Programs to meet the expectations of customers and individual learners
  • Design, create, review, evaluate, and adjust the content and rate of delivery of competency based learning materials and assessment tools to meet policy standards
  • Review sections delivery plans and expenditure and ensure that all delivery of competency based learning and assessment programs meet technical training quality standards
  • Support the development of a world-class Apprentice program and establish mechanisms to implement areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and recognized as an expert in the appropriate technical field and ten (10) years of directly related experience, including three (3) years as a Supervisor and three (3) years in a mid-level Management role; OR

  • High School diploma or GED and Master Craftsman certification or license and ten (10) years of directly related experience, including three (3) years as a Supervisor and three (3) years in a mid-level Management role

  • Skill in analytical thinking

  • Lead by example in order to be a role model for all colleagues, direct reports and development program participants

  • Consistently demonstrate leadership and teamwork qualities and behaviors that fully support and enhance the department’s ability to achieve its objectives and meet company employee developmen and systems implementation expectations

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $89,000-$125,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.

Candidates will be required to participate in a post-offer, pre-employment medical examination for the following positions which may have essential job duties that can impact both their own safety and the safety of others:

  • Site-based positions, or positions which require unescorted access to site-based operational areas, which are held by employees who are required to receive MSHA, OSHA, DOT, HAZWOPER and/or Hazard Recognition Training; or
