Where You Will Work   

Our rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas, is a key contributor to our ranking as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of continuous cast copper rod – a main material used in the manufacturing of wire and cable products. The refinery has the potential to operate at an annual production capacity of about 900 million pounds of copper cathode, which is sufficient to refine all the copper anode we produce at our Miami operations in Arizona. The refinery also produces nickel carbonate, copper telluride and autoclaved slimes material containing gold, silver, platinum and palladium.  

 

The beautiful city of El Paso features three universities, many community colleges and numerous schools. What You Will Do

  • Communication, Special Events and Reporting – Draft key messages for stakeholders, including the development of Media Advisories for review by management and external communications. manage and attend special events on behalf of the operation/company, serve as spokesperson/speaker when appropriate, collect data and conduct quality control assessment for the annual Global Reporting Initiative exercise, and contribute case studies for annual Sustainability Report.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Support the annual stakeholder analysis process, manage relationships with assigned stakeholders as a member of the Stakeholder Engagement Team for the assigned site(s)/region(s).  Facilitate meetings, run and/or support formal engagement processes such as Community Partnership Panels, develop agendas and talking points for senior management, document meetings, etc., and serve as the assistant internal Grievance Management Officer to manage and resolve external complaints.
  • Social Investment – Serve as the primary intake for local donation requests, evaluate and make preliminary decisions and consult with CD manager on a scheduled basis to review.  Make updates and improvements to program materials and ensure awareness and accessibility; evaluate grant proposals and co-manage formal processes such as the Community Investment Funds, including Committee member training, preparation for scoring, interviews and review, etc.  Oversee funded organizations/projects to maximize success and visibility. Independently work on special risk-centered initiatives such as STEM Education or Entrepreneurship and support implementation in local operating community.
  • Employee Engagement – Facilitate the development and growth of the company-wide employee engagement program at the designated site(s), including the design and planning of volunteer events such as Global Volunteer Month, promotion, and expansion of company programs such as Employee Matching Gifts and the Annual United Way Campaign, and other employee programs such as STEM Pros, volunteer recognition, etc.
  • Internal Business Coordination – Participate in the internal SD risk evaluation and management processes, including co-development of the Social Risk Register and 5 Year Plan.  Support /participate in interface with other departments/functions needed to manage overlapping risks; maintain and update key documents in the process and support the preparation of materials for the social aspect of Assurance.
  • Capacity-Building – Implement various parts of community capacity building activities, such as grant guidance sessions, nonprofit training, leadership development, etc.; research and benchmark successful economic development, community leadership and other capacity development tools or initiatives and make recommendations to management; track efforts and provide resources where/when needed.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Master’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and three (3) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and five (5) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • Associate’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and seven (7) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least nine (9) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field.

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,500 - $120,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
