What You Will Do

Looking for highly skilled employees in the mechanical maintenance craft who applies a broad level of process and mechanical/maintenance knowledge to maximize and, where possible, improve the efficiency of the overall production process. Among these workers are machinists, heavy machinery mechanics, skilled automotive technicians, certified welders, pump-rebuild mechanics and specialized maintenance mechanic personnel. This position may mentor or train other mechanical workers. Employees will work autonomously under minimal supervision where the primary objective is safe production.

  • Performs diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors.
  • Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include Oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans. 
  • Train and mentor other employees and act as a Fill-In Supervisor as needed.
  • Perform welding, such as: Carbon arc, and Mig.
  • May operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Four (4) years’ experience in light duty mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.  The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards.
  • Knowledge of general to advanced electrical.
  • Ability to read schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Knowledge and ability to use various computer aided diagnostic tools.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $32.00 - $44.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
