What You Will Do
In this role, you encourage, empower, facilitate and provide guidance to leadership and business optimization teams with little oversight, guiding and coaching all team members with a focus on leaders, stakeholders, team members and employees while striving to unlock potential and curiosity and emphasizing high‑impact, value‑added work, acting as a subject matter expert across many topics, embracing change, and stewarding transformational methodologies. As the Operational Excellence Coach, you build, facilitate and coach high‑performing teams and business optimization initiatives and strengthen understanding of Agile, Lean, Operational Excellence and other optimization techniques. You will teach and improve business optimization practices, work with Operational Excellence leadership to drive data‑driven value and support one or more communities of practice. You evolve ways of working by applying agile, Lean or other methodologies in operational settings and implement Operational Excellence elements. You will develop, hone and apply problem‑solving techniques including bottleneck analysis, root cause analysis, Lean management, design thinking concepts, line balance, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and specific detailed diagnostic analyses. You empower leadership teams to build and sustain a thriving community and the Freeport culture, foster continuous learning, help teams inspect and adapt, and perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring To Freeport
- High School diploma or GED AND nine (9) years of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree AND five (5) years of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings, OR
- Master’s Degree AND three (3) years of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
- Passionate problem solver who succeeds in ambiguous situations and advocates for the best solution
- Active coach and mentor focused on maximizing team potential
- Strong communicator with emerging ability to convey complex messages
- Experience as a participant (team member, SME) in business optimization teams with potential to become an expert in transformation methodologies

Preferred Qualifications
- Background in specific field (mine, mill, hydro, etc.)
- Engineering background
- Data analysis skills
- Experience with OEE (data access, cleaning, interpretation, analysis, etc.)
- Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
- Able to execute hypothesis‑based analysis to confirm or disprove hypotheses
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to formulate questions to gain customer or process insight
- Experience standing up Management Systems (work standards, process confirmations, meeting standardization, lineouts and visual management efforts, etc.)
- People and Culture experience (human resources, organizational health, industrial psychology, etc.)
- Experience in Agile values and principles
- Experience working on, facilitating or coaching Agile teams
- Experience with Lean methodologies and practices
- Experienced indirect influencer
- Digital product lifecycle experience (e.g. Business Analysis, Discovery, UX design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Support and Planning)
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $95,500- $134,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
