This position is within our Oil & Gas Division and will be based in our Houston,Texas office.


Please note: This in-person position is performed onsite at Freeport-McMoRan’s office in Houston, TX. Lead the Freeport-McMoRan Oil and Gas (FMOG) Land and Land Administration Functions.

  • Participate with other FMOG staff in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing Land-related support as needed.
  • Work with working interest co-owners regarding ongoing abandonment projects in properties FMOG operates.
  • Interact with and support the Legal function, providing Land-related documentation and information as needed.
  • Supervise and manage the FMOG Land Administration function, including maintenance of leases, AFEs, JIB Decks, and periodic Land payments (eCalendar).
  • Draft agreements and contractual provisions regarding Land-related issues, in conjunction with the Legal function and subject to management approval.
  • Interact with governmental regulatory agencies, including BOEM & BSEE, and provide reports & Land-related documentation as required.
  • Conduct research on offshore and onshore websites and databases, including OWL7, OCSBBS, Sonris and BSEE.
  • Review and manage all Land-related documents, (e.g., contracts, regulatory documents, leases, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND
  • Ten years of experience as a Landman with an Operating Company, including five years onshore and offshore experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten years of offshore experience as a Senior Landman with an Operating Company, including both Golf of Mexico onshore and offshore experience
  • Working familiarity with BSEE financial assurance issues and performance bonds
  • Working familiarity with OWL7, OCSBBS, BSEE research sites. Familiarity with Quorum Land Database and eCalendar (payments)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from accredited university
