Description
Under general supervision, provides Engineering technical expertise, guidance and leadership for environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
- Determines and assesses environmental risk and develops regulatory documentation of results.
- Performs site inspections and recommends appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
- Reviews and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned expansion, modification or closure of facilities which af fect environmental discharges, emissions, and hazardous materials.
- Serves as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation).
- Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.
- Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting ef forts for environmental systems and issues.
- Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, Clean Air and Water Acts).
- Provides leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians.
- May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agriculture, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and five (5) years Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including project management experience; OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field and three (3) years Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including project management experience
- Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMM.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigating and reporting protocols.
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
- Skilled in managing large/complex environmental projects.
- Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
- Able to analyze a wide range of soil, water and air samples to recognize potential environmental hazards.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred:
- Experience with one or more of the following CAA, CWA, TSCA, RCRA, TRI, EPCRA
- Experience in environmental permitting

Compensation:
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $89,000-$125,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
