Description

Under general supervision, provides Engineering technical expertise, guidance and leadership for environmental projects and programs at assigned site.

  • Determines and assesses environmental risk and develops regulatory documentation of results.
  • Performs site inspections and recommends appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
  • Reviews and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned expansion, modification or closure of facilities which af fect environmental discharges, emissions, and hazardous materials.
  • Serves as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation).
  • Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.
  • Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting ef forts for environmental systems and issues.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, Clean Air and Water Acts).
  • Provides leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agriculture, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and five (5) years Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including project management experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field and three (3) years Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including project management experience
  • Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMM.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigating and reporting protocols.
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in managing large/complex environmental projects.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
  • Able to analyze a wide range of soil, water and air samples to recognize potential environmental hazards.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with one or more of the following CAA, CWA, TSCA, RCRA, TRI, EPCRA
  • Experience in environmental permitting

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $89,000-$125,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.

Candidates will be required to participate in a post-offer, pre-employment medical examination for the following positions which may have essential job duties that can impact both their own safety and the safety of others:

  • Site-based positions, or positions which require unescorted access to site-based operational areas, which are held by employees who are required to receive MSHA, OSHA, DOT, HAZWOPER and/or Hazard Recognition Training; or 
  • Positions which are held by employees who operate equipment, machinery or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing the essential functions of their job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose “motor vehicles” includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal motor vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel).
