This position may require occasional travel to the New Orleans corporate office and/or site locations throughout the United States.
Description
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Total Rewards Intern to join our team and assist with both executive compensation and benefits programs. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Total Rewards team, gaining hands-on experience in formulating compensation package recommendations for executives, as well as supporting various aspects of our benefits program. This internship offers a unique blend of executive compensation and benefits exposure, providing valuable insights into the strategic and operational aspects of total rewards.
- Collaborate with the Total Rewards team to develop compensation package recommendations for executives, including new hires and job changes.
- Assist in conducting market research and data analysis to support executive compensation decisions.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual compensation surveys and benchmarking exercises.
- Support the administration of executive compensation programs, including annual reviews and incentive plans.
- Work closely with the benefits team to facilitate the administration and communication of our benefits programs.
- Support the implementation of new benefits initiatives and wellness programs.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of benefits providers, exploring options to enhance our current offerings.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of compensation and benefits policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in executive compensation and benefits.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Human Resources or Business discipline or closely related field; OR
- Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Human Resources, Business or closely related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge or strong interest in executive compensation principles and practices.
- Familiarity with benefits administration and an understanding of different benefit types (health, retirement, etc.).

- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in an office, mine, or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of t he workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
- Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug / alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre- employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable state laws
Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $18.00 - $23.40/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
