Where You Will Work 

Our office is located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana. Employees in New Orleans mostly follow a hybrid schedule where they are required to work in office, attend in-person meetings or training and may also collaborate virtually. New Orleans is a popular tourist destination known for its rich history, architecture, cultural arts, music, and cuisine. Many great hotels, galleries, restaurants, and museums are a short walk from the office.

What You Will Do

Serve as a technical leader by providing guidance, expertise, and mentorship for engineering projects, technical challenges, and programs. Define and drive leading practices and facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge across teams. Apply subject matter expertise to improve outcomes and support complex programs. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning and guiding initiatives. Interpret theory and practice to senior leadership to support decision-making and recommend solutions based on technical expertise. Lead, review, investigate, and develop recommendations for engineering projects and technical challenges across disciplines. Align engineering efforts with strategic goals and contribute to long-term technical strategies. Communicate effectively with both lay and expert audiences to influence strategy and execution. Demonstrate exceptional technical skills and solve complex problems. Stay current with industry trends and recommend new practices. Collaborate with site and project management to ensure standards are met and improvements are implemented. Promote innovation and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement. Provide input for strategic planning and budgeting. Mentor and motivate talent across multiple disciplines. Perform other duties as requested.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 10 years of related experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 8 years of related experience

OR

  • PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 6 years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Strong analytical skills to research and draw valid conclusions
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
  • Expertise developing Civil and Structural deliverables such as 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, calculations, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
  • Experience developing and contributing to development of scoping documents, P6 schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and estimates
  • Expertise in 3D structural analysis software including ability to interpret results and develop design recommendations
  • Expertise in structural design in high-seismic zones
  • Skill in researching and analyzing information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written, including the ability to actively listen and to adapt behavior and communication style based upon the audience
  • Experience in a capital project design office
  • Experience with mining and metallurgical process facilities
  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $130,000 - $180,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process. Click here to view a sample of Total Rewards Estimate for this role.
