Where You Will Work 

Our office is located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana. Employees in New Orleans mostly follow a hybrid schedule where they are required to work in office, attend in-person meetings or training and may also collaborate virtually. New Orleans is a popular tourist destination known for its rich history, architecture, cultural arts, music, and cuisine. Many great hotels, galleries, restaurants, and museums are a short walk from the office.  

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, you plan, organize, manage, and execute designated instrumentation and control engineering projects and programs, ensuring all phases are completed within appropriate time and cost parameters. Perform and oversee execution of engineering design tasks for assigned projects, including modeling, calculations, drawings, and specifications, while maintaining accurate design records throughout the project life cycle. In this role, you develop, prepare, and review technical documentation and reports to support design decisions and project requirements. As a Senior Engineer of Instrument/Control Projects, you participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans, conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements, and utilize engineering software and tools to model, simulate, and analyze design components. You will assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning phases, continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office, and perform other duties as requested.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation/Control Engineering or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in engineering or related scientific field; OR
  • Master’s degree in Instrumentation/Control Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering or related scientific field

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Proficiency with applicable industry standards and Instrumentation and Controls engineering design criteria
  • Skilled in developing Instrumentation and Controls deliverables such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (PIDs), Input/Output Lists (I/O), Interconnect Diagrams, Block Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Schematics, Panel arrangement drawings, Datasheets, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
  • Experience developing and contributing to development of scoping documents, control narratives and philosophies, P6 schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and estimates
  • Experience participating in HAZIDs/HAZOPs
  • Knowledge of industry standard Electrical design practicesBroad knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written, including the ability to actively listen and to adapt behavior and communication style based upon the audience
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Skill in supervising, evaluating, training, and motivating employees
  • Experience in a capital project design office
  • Experience with mining and metallurgical process facilities
  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $105,000 - $145,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
