This role leads cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness across maintenance, mining operations, and processing facilities. The incumbent oversees the full lifecycle of Operational Excellence (OpEx) projects—from opportunity identification and benefit quantification to implementation and sustainability—ensuring alignment with “The OpEx Way” standards and delivery of tangible business value. In addition to managing the Maintenance Governance function and owning PTFI Maintenance standards, the role ensures the integrity of master data in SAP PM & EAM and drives strategic maintenance initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance

  • Champion and enforce safety standards across all maintenance excellence and governance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving operational performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness, especially around maintenance, mining operation, and processing facilities.
  • Oversee Maintenance Governance, Mobile Equipment Governance, and Operational projects initiatives across PTFI
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of Operational Excellence (OpEx) projects—from opportunity identification to implementation and sustainability.
  • Ensure all initiatives align with “The OpEx Way” standards and deliver tangible business value.
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of high-impact projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business impact.

Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with operational teams to identify long-term improvement opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for operations and maintenance excellence initiatives.
  • Facilitate quarterly goal setting and roadmap development for the Operations Excellence team.
  • Communicate project status, outcomes, and insights regularly to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Work with consulting partners to ensure contract compliance and performance standards.

Team Development & Resource Management

  • Support recruitment, training, and development of team members.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and problem-solving assistance to the team.
  • Allocate resources to projects based on strategic priorities and potential impact.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement in maintenance and operations processes, systems, and documentation.
  • Introduce innovative approaches and new ways of working to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Align team objectives with broader organizational goals and PTFI’s strategic direction.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, maintenance, or a related STEM field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in large-scale mining operations, including underground and processing environments, with direct oversight of teams and multi-million-dollar improvement projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mining, processing, and maintenance in the mining industry
  • Proven experience in SAP PM/EAM and master data governance.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, reliability engineering, and asset management.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of five plus (5+) concurrent operational excellence/improvement projects across multiple divisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Advanced computer literacy including SAP, Power BI, and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, e.g. lifecycle cost analysis, equipment utilization forecasting, KPI tracking, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or master’s degree in a STEM and/or business improvement experience in Indonesia or developing countries is highly preferred.
  • Change management and program management qualifications (Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification preferred).
  • Coaching certification.
  • LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
