Why You Should Apply For This Job: 

The incumbent will provide technical expertise to overall contracting and associated through implementation of data analytics, develop relevant dashboards that will identify problem areas and provide visibility to management regarding contractor performance. This role will evaluate top tier site-based contractors, existing contracts, and develop relevant and measurable KPIs for implementation in such contracts. Other duties will consist of:

  • Supporting contract negotiation through technical analysis and provide recommendation to the Manager Contracts & Compliance and Supply Chain Management.
  • Developing and managing contract spend management plan for the site.
  • Evaluating existing contracting processes and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Developing standardized reporting tools.
  • Driving cost performance improvement with top tier contractors.
  • Developing and instituting contractor management processes to ensure the services described within complex contracts are executed as described within the contract.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical contract expertise relative to planning, analyzing, reviewing, and evaluating services to be outsourced and directly negotiate terms, conditions, rates based on relevant market or internal supporting data (“should-cost”) to ensure that technical requirements and business objectives are met.
  2. Provide technical guidance in the preparation of high-risk international contracts and provide technical expertise for selected tender packages.
  3. Provide technical guidance regarding negotiation planning, strategy development and should cost modelling.
  4. Direct involvement and responsibility for negotiating all terms included in international contracts. Objective is to mitigate risk for PTFI, establish fair and reasonable pricing/rates and include performance metrics where reasonable.
  5. Analyze, review, evaluate and provide technical guidance relative to contractor selection and placement in coordination with Contracts team pertaining to obtain the best decision, fair value, and minimize the risk to the company according to the company policy and procedures.
  6. Analyze and review contract recommendation and cost analysis for contracts to provide well rounded information to senior management prior to execution of a contract.
  7. Provide technical guidance relative to the preparation of all initial contract counter claims for rebuttal or counter assessment of contractor claims, when necessary, to ensure accurate data and/or information.
  8. Review, evaluate and offer process improvements relative to the control contract administration management system to support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain work plan in compliance with the determined objectives, goals, trends, and future needs of the Contract department.
  9. Establish relationships with various division management with the objective of providing each division with achievable and relevant contracting strategies for their respective services to be outsourced.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining/Engineering/Business with at least ten (10) years of working experience in the mining industry or related area.
  • Advanced working knowledge and background in business analysis, procurement, supply chain management, contract negotiation skills, financial and cost analysis, mining operations, legal and tax matters.
  • Excellent contract negotiation skills.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Other PTFI mandatory competencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mining/Engineering/Business.
  • Five (5) years of international contracting experience.
