Assist the Superintendent of the Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) Short Term Scheduling & Planning to lead, coordinate and supervise GBC Infrastructure and Projects team to produce designs, plans and schedules to support the Operations team to meet development, production and construction targets in a diverse spread of infrastructure and production support projects such as: mine development and production communications systems, utilities (compressed air, service water, fire water etc.), development power, development and production support facilities such as temporary fuel bays, offices, refuge chambers, service hole and drain hole drilling, and pumps and sumps. Major projects such as GBC Pit Dewatering and drainage, production planning, development drill and blast projects and others as required are part of this role. Also assist the Superintendent of the GBC Rail Engineering to lead, coordinate and supervise the GBC Rail Engineering team to produce designs, plans and schedules to support the Operations team to meet construction and production targets to support the GBC Haulage Project.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate the Infrastructure and Projects group to plan and implement development and production communications systems to support the Operational team.
  2. Supervise and coordinate the Infrastructure and Projects group to plan and implement utilities sources, backbones and other facilities for compressed air, service water, drainage, fire suppression and other associated systems such as drain holes and service holes.
  3. Supervise and coordinate the Infrastructure and Projects group to plan and implement scheduling and coordinating long-hole drilling to completed service holes, drain holes, etc.
  4. Supervise and coordinate the Infrastructure and Projects group to plan and implement development and production power systems including substations, transformers, cable runs and other associated systems to support the Operations team.
  5. Supervise and coordinate the Infrastructure and Projects group to plan and implement plans and schedules for major projects such as the GBC Dewatering and Drainage project, development drill and blast design.
  6. Have input on equipment selection and quantities to support the GBC Operational team.
  7. Supervise and coordinate the GBC Rail Project Engineering team.
  8. Have input into GBC Production Planning including production schedules, geotechnical issues etc.
  9. Other projects as required to support the Operational team.
  10. Develop, coach, and motivate subordinates to enhance their skills, knowledge, and capability.
  11. Guide, monitor, and control department safety programs: tracking of departmental safety accountabilities, regular safety inspections, identifying new safety approaches, etc., to achieve and ensure that all safety procedures are met.
  12. Work closely with the GBC Engineering department updating short-term project schedule to get heads up with the short-term planning.
  13. Develop, coach, and motivate team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering with six (6) years of working experience in related underground mining projects.
  • Proficiency in design software including Vulcan, the Deswik suite and scheduling software such as MS Project.
  • Overriding Safety and Environment skills – an underlying drive to create a safe working environment and prevention of accidents in the surrounding environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to enable the team to work towards a shared goal in an efficient manner.
  • Proven ability to coach, counsel, mentor and motivate as required.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Deswik package, Mine 2-4D/EPS package, Vulcan, MS Office. MS Project, etc.).
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • High level communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Highly proactive and achievement oriented.
  • Highly focused toward satisfying customer requirements.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce.
