Provide in depth expertise and advisory guidance to the Manager, Highland / Lowland Security, and protect the lives and safety of employees, dependents, visitors, company assets and operations to ensure production and business continuity and protect the reputation of PTFI. Assist in planning and operations to support addressing security contingency situations and promote security awareness while advancing the concept of accountability for violations. Support liaison between PTFI and local / regional government security forces, coordinating joint security operations to mitigate and minimize risk to PTFI employees and theft or damage to property and equipment under conditions of civil disturbance, terrorist threat, or natural disaster.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Advise Highland Lowland Manager, daily, on matters concerning the effective use of available resources for the planning, employment of, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling a 450–500-person security force to accomplish assigned tasks.
  2. Advise Highland Lowland Manager, daily, issues regarding the health, welfare, morale, training, and discipline of all assigned and attached security personnel within your area of responsibility.
  3. Function as integral member of the jobsite security management team. As a member of this group, assist in the development of a strategic security plan and all supporting plans.
  4. As member of the jobsite security management team, supervise the implementation of the annual operating plan within the highland lowland area, in accordance with the guidelines provided by PTFI senior management, ensuring compliance with all Indonesian government rules, regulations, contracts, and any relevant United States laws.
  5. Provide leadership and direction for security personnel, systems, and programs in the Freeport Highland Lowland operating area, and other functional areas as assigned. As part of this, mentor and motivate subordinates to enhance their job performance and leadership capabilities.
  6. Ensure personal and property security for employees and their families within your geographic area of responsibility, to create a secure and safe working / living environment at jobsite.
  7. Promote security awareness within the highland lowland workforce at jobsite.
  8. Assist in planning for emergency preparedness contingencies. Develop and maintain a civil disturbance contingency and site emergency action plans for your area responsibility, in support of PTFI’s crisis management plan.
  9. Assist the Highland Lowland Manager in initiating, planning and implementing security management systems throughout the Highland Lowland area.
  10. Assist the Highland Lowland Manager in providing updated information on a regular basis to SRM and PTFI senior management on relevant security related matters to assist in the formulation of company policies regarding support of and coordination with GOI security forces in relation to their role in protecting company people and facilities.
  11. Assist the Highland Lowland Manager in his or her efforts to establish effective liaison and coordination with all people having an impact upon the PTFI Security Department.
  12. Assist the Highland Lowland Manager in his or her efforts to maintain liaison with commanders to ensure we achieve a joint security effort in the project area.
  13. Support public relations with the Freeport Community, engage with externals stakeholder as directed, and collaborate with security and government leaders as needed – all of whom have influence on the security operations at jobsite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably in security, business, or management related field with three (3) years of working experience as a corporate security manager or equivalent. Education may be substituted with ten (10) years of security related experience.
  • Experience as a military officer/ non-commissioned officer/ law enforcement officer/industrial security leader with eight (8) years of working experience in security risk management and training management skills.
  • Interpersonal and intercultural skills particularly in dealing with senior ranking foreign government officials.
  • An ability to solve complicated, multi-faceted problems with ethnic and cultural undercurrents - having enormous and lasting repercussions.
  • An ability to cultivate meaningful intelligence regarding strikes, terrorist actions, and other activities that impact upon company operations and then, to formulate operations plans and implement them safely and effectively.
  • Ability to respond to strikes and civil disturbances.
  • Experience with internal theft and behavioral problems in the workplace. Understanding Industrial relations principles.
  • Experience overcoming factors relating to language and cultural differences.
  • Knowledge or experience with Indonesian military doctrine and military organization structure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and oral presentations.
  • Ability to conduct specific subject matter and situation briefings.
  • Strong managerial and planning skills.
  • Administrative skills and computer literacy.
  • Cost and accounting knowledge. Ability to identify and implement cost saving initiatives with a view to providing the best risk mitigation value to the company.
  • Basic understanding of radio communication networks (HV, UHF, VHF and SAT).
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa Indonesia.
