Title: Technical Expert, Ore Flow Mechanical Maintenance

Provide high-level technical expertise and mentorship to support the improvement of maintenance quality, particularly predictive and reliability-based maintenance, to achieve overall reliability and availability targets safely. This role supports the Ore Flow Mechanical Maintenance Group, with specific technical accountability and advisory support for crushers, conveyors, and associated bulk material handling systems, by sharing skills, technical knowledge, and best practices when requested, both internally and externally. The position also provides professional guidance and technical advice to the Maintenance Superintendent on fixed plant maintenance facilities within an underground mining environment, including ore flow systems as well as other supporting fixed plants such as pumps, piping systems, compressors, and underground ventilation fans, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical assistance, advice, and recommendations to the Maintenance Superintendent to ensure safe and environmentally responsible maintenance execution in Ore Flow.
2. Support maintenance metrics analysis and reporting to help achieve divisional KPI’s.
3. Assist in Corrective Action Team (CAT) investigations related to maintenance failures, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
4. Identify, design, and develop new or improved maintenance procedures to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.
5. Provide guidance on personnel management, coaching, and professional development of maintenance employees.
6. Liaise with overseas equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and technology providers.
7. Demonstrate visible safety leadership and intervention in unsafe acts or conditions.
8. Proactively identify and control mechanical, operational, and environmental hazards in underground ore flow systems.
9. Apply structured root cause analysis for incidents, near misses, and maintenance failures.
10. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, isolation/LOTO standards, and underground work controls.
11. Consider environmental risks and impacts in maintenance planning and execution.
Qualifications
- Trade qualification in a mechanical discipline, with fifteen (15) years of experience in an industrial and/or mining environment.
- Five (5) years of experience in large-scale, complex underground mining operations involving crushers, conveyors, and bulk material handling systems.
- Ore Flow Mechanical Systems (Crushers & Conveyors): Functional expertise in crushers, conveyors, feeders, chutes, belt systems, and associated bulk material handling equipment.
- Bulk Material Handling Reliability: Understanding of wear mechanisms, failure modes, and maintenance strategies for large-scale ore flow systems.
- Functional experience within maintenance methods & techniques.
- Predictive & Reliability-Based Maintenance: Functional application of condition monitoring and reliability improvement techniques.
- Experience supporting fixed plant systems: pumps, piping systems, compressors, and underground ventilation fans is beneficial.
- Functional experience with systems, processes & procedures.
- Functional experience with safety management & risk assessment (Underground Fixed Plant).
- Hazard identification, risk assessment & control (HIRA / JSA / JSEA).
