Title: Technical Expert, Underground Ventilation

Responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the technical and engineering aspects of underground mine ventilation systems. This role requires advanced analysis and conceptual expertise to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The incumbent will also mentor counterparts to support knowledge transfer, skill development, and continuous improvement.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental standards to minimize incidents and equipment damage.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through consistent monitoring and guidance.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate counterparts through structured on‑the‑job training (e.g., Pressure Quality Surveys) and other developmental programs.
- Strengthen team competency in ventilation engineering and operational best practices.
- Provide engineering solutions for underground fans, ventilation controls, and related systems, including design, installation, maintenance, QC/QA, cost estimation, and spare‑parts planning.
- Lead or co‑lead air quality initiatives, including Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) and dust‑reduction strategies, covering planning, procurement, and field execution.
- Develop medium‑ and long‑term ventilation plans, including scientific calculations for shafts, drifts, fans, doors, and other requirements.
- Build and calibrate mine ventilation models using tools such as Ventsim; validate simulations through field data comparisons
- Collaborate with the Finance and Accounting Department on procurement of ventilation equipment by providing accurate specifications and ensuring cost‑effective purchasing.
- Prepare AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital projects with proper justification, forecasting, cost control, and compliance with company standards.
- Manage administrative tasks related to capital projects, including construction QC, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and reporting.
- Support project management tasks such as project scoping, tendering, product selection, and stakeholder coordination.
- Evaluate and enhance the Ventilation On Demand (VOD) system, including optimization studies and rollout strategies.
.Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mining, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar), with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of environmental hazards, monitoring, and control strategies.
- Ability to design and maintain sustainable underground ventilation systems.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing AFEs, reports, and technical documentation.
- Experience in project management and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to develop reports, conduct scenario analysis, and support decision‑making processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and the ability to implement them in operational areas.
- Proficiency with Ventsim or equivalent ventilation software.
- Strong communication, presentation, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse workforce.
- Fluent in English (oral and written); willingness to learn Bahasa Indonesia.
- Highly proactive, analytical, customer‑focused, and results‑oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering (Mining, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar).
- Tunneling or underground mining experience preferred.
- Experience with monitoring, automation, controls, and machine learning applications is desirable.
- Programming or fluid dynamic modeling skills are an advantage.
