Our internship program is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America. These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August. Apply Today! 

Candidates for this position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship based on the following criteria:

  • A foreign national working in a full-time status on an F-1 visa may be considered for H-1B visa sponsorship based on business needs, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. 
  • A foreign national working in a full-time status may be considered for employment-based permanent residency sponsorship, based on business needs, completion of six (6) months of employment, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. 

 

Where You Will Work   

 

Interns are assigned to various locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Iowa, supporting our business in a variety of disciplines. 

Description

Under general supervision, Supports the team in creating and executing agreements for Engineering and Construction services, including IT and staffing agreements. Ensures compliance to FCX policies, to protect the Company from all risks and liabilities. Tracks and reports contract spend against budget and processes change management. Deploys strategies to support maintaining the Scope, Cost, Schedule and Quality of the contracted services. Maintains document control for Contracts. Supports the Corporate Contracts Management department with planning and execution of the yearly process improvements and implementation of solutions to the lessons learned from projects. Analyzes data from projects’ contracts management practice to help identify trends and potential improvements.

  • Gathers data from the project’s contracts management performance (RFPs, change management, costs, etc.), analyzes it and prepare reports
  • Analyze lessons learned and ideas from the contracts management department in order to create a list of ideas for process improvements
  • Receives and reviews a wide variety of contract requests and selects the most appropriate sourcing strategy based on the situation and the scope of work; may support one or more specialized areas requiring an increased depth of knowledge.
  • Provides timely, accurate and cost-effective contractual agreements to support Projects with an uninterrupted flow of services.
  • Reviews bid proposals from suppliers and develops bid tabulations and recommendations for award.
  • Maintains competitive pricing with an emphasis on cost reductions, quality, and supplier performance through competitive bid events, price negotiations, cost modeling, or other sourcing techniques.
  • Ensures contract requirements are followed, issue notices to contractors as required and document contractual meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Full-time student enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Engineering discipline, OR
  • Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with an appropriate Engineering degree

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursing Master’s Degree in Construction Management or the related field of Engineering preferably in final year of graduate program

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre- employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

Compensation:

 

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $25.75 - $32.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
