Where You Will Work
Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our hybrid internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person regularly at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or our site locations. Interns participating in our hybrid internship program will be expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance – 50 miles one-way – of the company’s corporate offices to ensure availability when meeting attendance/collaboration is needed. Interns living more than 50 miles away would be required to relocate and would be eligible for travel and housing assistance.
What You Will Do
Under close supervision, works alongside the Communications team in the development and creation of content for the company’s social media platforms. This work includes, but is not limited to:
- Conduct market research to identify trends and competitive insights.
- Support the creation of marketing materials as needed.
- Analyze marketing data and generate reports to measure campaign effectiveness.
- Plan, create and implement the company’s social media strategies across various platforms.
- Edit and write social content that aligns with the company’s priorities and values.
- Create visual graphics to support the company’s social media messaging.
- Capture and edit photos and video footage from company events, including interviews and b-roll.
- Maintain a consistent visual identity across all social media channels.
- Assist in storyboarding, scripting and production of video content tailored for social media.
- Use data to identify insights and social media trends.
- Assist in the creation and scheduling of social media content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Collaborate with various departments to identify social media content.
- Monitor comments and messages on social media, responding or escalating when appropriate.
- Monitor and analyze competitor social media channels.
- Monitor and report daily on owned channel activity.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism, public relations, mass communications, marketing, graphic design, film and media, or related field; OR
- Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in journalism, public relations, mass communication, marketing, graphic design, film and media, or related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Strong understanding of the social media space, the social communities, conversations and trends.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar.

- The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.50 - $25.00/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workday.
