Description
Identify and realize opportunities and initiatives in the following areas: information systems, business process redesign, and continuous improvement. Obtain value-added information and process technology solutions and products from MIS.  Provide architecting and project management functions to the application platforms in the MIS group and serve as a liaison with the business to define requirements and translate them into system solutions. 
 
  • Manage early “Initiation” activities for regional system solutions to meet business needs for Operations business areas
  • Responsible for ensuring system analysis designs and process maps are documented and communicated with business executives and senior management
  • Work closely with Operations business areas regionally, define business-centric MIS requirements and evaluate available and/or custom system solution options
  • Understand the tactical and strategic plans of Operations Management in order to support and promote an MIS strategy that aligns with the business process and operations
  • Work with the custom, packaged, business intelligence, and operations platform project teams on building and executing Operations business systems project plans and support
  • Gain a high-level understanding of all systems and processes that support the Operations Management business processes, while specializing in a few specific business areas
  • Work with the Operations Management business process owners to understand the tactical and strategic plans in order to support the business process and operations
  • Provide a medium level of specific Operations business-centric expertise to global MIS projects
  • Understand all MIS related user satisfaction issues within the mine site Operations Management business processes, communicate the issues to MIS management and lead resolution of these issues within MIS
  • Stay current on new business processes, new technologies that may impact the Operations Management business processes, Process and Information Systems technology and methodology strategies, facilitation techniques and project management concepts
  • Analyze potential business problems and determine MIS, Process Technology and business process portions of proposed solution; manage appropriate action based on proposed solutions
  • Where applicable, lead and motivate business analysts and other platform employees
  • Effectively coach and mentor department employees
  • Support employee involvement and development
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree AND
  • Five (5) years of experience in Information Services, Process Technology field including four (4) years of Project Management experience on medium to large system implementations
  • Knowledge of requirements development, requirements analysis and operations management

 

Preferred

 

  • Experience with Hadoop, R and other Big Data environments
  • Experience with temporal data analysis and manipulation
  • Experience leading Big Data project teams and working with Data Scientists and Data Analysts
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to identify, analyze and gather solution requirements
  • Experience analyzing business processes and using requirements to develop common data models
  • Experience managing multiple small information technology projects, including defining scope, creating work plans, resolving issues, and monitoring and reporting status
  • Experience working in the mining industry
  • Experience with Mine Management Systems – Modular Dispatch

 

Criteria/Conditions

 

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently, sit, stand, and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
