Where You Will Work    

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do

Manage a portfolio of mostly regional categories utilizing the latest supply chain tools and market knowledge to deliver the lowest total cost solution to Freeport-McMoRan. Lead commercial negotiations and contract development to ensure favorable terms that mitigate company risk. Act as a single point of contact for suppliers, Global Supply Chain personnel, and internal customers to maximize value creation with respect to category responsibilities.

  • In this role, you negotiate commercial terms and develop contracts and pricing for category responsibilities, develop cost management techniques, and understand category markets and industry cost drivers.
  • As the Mgr Category Management, you facilitate internal and external teams to identify key suppliers and develop strategic alliances, prepare analysis and plans for negotiations, and lead negotiations involving critical suppliers and/or customers.
  • You compile market research data, inclusive of economic analysis for historical buying trends and projected supply pricing models, provide leadership as a Subject Matter Expert within Global Supply Chain, and seek solutions to minimize routine purchase transactions while anticipating and removing supplier-related issues.
  • You provide resources and guidance to customers regarding procurement and contracting processes, maintain ownership of procure-to-pay processes and issues for assigned categories, prepare and present market and contract analysis to senior leadership.
  • You will maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies, facilitate the development of standards to maximize value and minimize Total Cost of Ownership, and develop Total Cost of Ownership models for assigned categories.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in negotiations with large corporations.
  • Experience managing multiple $5M+ categories preferably in the Mining, Industrial or Heavy Manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with Supply Chain Modules in SAP and other Contract Management Systems.
  • Experience presenting to leadership around category responsibilities.

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $122,000-$160,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process. Click here to view a sample of Total Rewards Estimate for this role.
