Where You Will Work    

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Install, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Evaluate and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for risk reduction. 
  • Collaborate in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations. 
  • Review and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communications. 
  • Evaluate and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. 
  • Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations. 
  • Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures 
  • May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians 
  • May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation) 
  • Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System 
  • Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements. 
  • Track and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

What You Bring To Freeport

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR 
    • Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge/experience with Federal and Arizona water quality regulation and programs (CWA, NPDES, APP, drinking water, Etc.).
  • Familiarity with hydrogeologic field methods (e.g., well installation, aquifer testing, water sampling).
  • Experience with data analysis, databases (e.g. EQuIS) and data validation.
  • Understanding of groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
  • Familiarity with well development techniques and well health programs.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork under varying conditions.
  • Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $85,000-$116,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
