Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do
Drive planning initiatives for category managers with a portfolio of global categories utilizing the latest supply chain tools and market knowledge for Freeport-McMoRan. Lead commercial negotiations and contract development to ensure favorable terms that mitigate company risk. Act as a single point of contact for suppliers, Global Supply Chain personnel, and internal customers to maximize value creation with respect to category responsibilities.
- In this role, you negotiate commercial terms, develop contracts and pricing, prepare negotiation analyses and plans, lead negotiations with critical suppliers and customers, and maintain ownership of procure‑to‑pay processes for assigned categories.
- As Manager–Category Management, you compile market research and economic analyses, develop supply pricing and cost models, understand category‑specific market drivers, minimize routine transactions, proactively resolve supplier issues on behalf of operations, and maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies.
- You provide leadership as a subject matter expert, facilitating internal and external teams to identify key suppliers and establish strategic alliances.
- Prepare and present market/contract analysis on assigned commodities to GSC senior leadership. Provide resources and guidance to customers regarding procurement and contracting process while managing related activities and requirements. Facilitate the development of standards to maximize value and minimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Develop Cost Models for assigned categories and Maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies and perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development, OR
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development, OR
- High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation/development
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience negotiating with large corporations
- Experience managing multiple $5M+ categories, preferably in mining, industrial, or heavy manufacturing etc industries
- Experience with SAP supply chain modules and other Contract Management Systems
- Experience with presenting leadership around Category Responsibilities
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $112,000-$160,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
