Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations . This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and New York.  Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors.  Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.


Global manager of FCX’s Enterprise Risk profile to enable achievement of the company’s strategic objectives. ERM manager leads collaborations with senior company representatives across administrative functions, world-wide operations, as well as FCX ERM Committee Executives to proactively identify critical risks and adequate mitigation strategies across strategic, financial and operational areas. This role is responsible for oversight of the Internal Audit function’s planning, execution and outcomes of assessment/assurance activities associated with the Enterprise Risk Profile. ERM manager maintains independent discretion in decision making and guiding company leaders in work relating to the FCX Enterprise Risk Management function.

  • Develop risk profiles for the global FCX Enterprise Risk Register though influence and engagement with global operations and business functions across a wide range of risk areas. Manage related information in company’s ERM digital platform (CoreStream) including risk descriptions, drivers, mitigation strategies and status. Lead business risk owners and staff in maintaining key ERM data in ERM digital platform.
  • Oversee Internal Audit assessment/assurance activities associated with priority enterprise risks and manage resulting outcomes in ERM digital platform
  • Lead risk scenario planning/analyses and prepare executives for forward-looking related “deep dive” risk workshops/exercises.
  • Work with the Director of ERM in developing and delivering risk communications for the FCX Enterprise Risk Committee, Senior Management and FCX Board of Directors.
  • Develop/Review internal and external enterprise risk-related communications as necessary (SEC filings and voluntary corporate reporting)
  • Perform other duties as requested.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (business, risk management, engineering, sustainability, etc) and nine (9) years of experience in related field (extractives industry preferred); or
  • Master’s degree in relevant field (business, risk management, engineering, sustainability, etc) and seven (7) years of experience in related field (extractives industry preferred)
  • Independent decision making
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal (executives) and external stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Analytical and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Broad understanding of strategic, external and operational risks faced by extractive industries
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare communications clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a targeted audience
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and critically analyze risk areas and related mitigation approaches
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highest ethical standards
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10%
  • This position requires domestic travel including air travel.   • The position will be based at Freeport-McMoRan in Phoenix, AZ, with some travel overseas and within the United States as required.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
