Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, and more. Our flexible work program allows employees to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Employees can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the position shift to in-person (office/site) work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time, so long as the position meets the established eligibility for these benefits.
Description
Provides leadership and oversight of liability management projects through a risk management and loss prevention lens, with a focus on fatal risk prevention, contractor safety, and safe project execution. Partners across Safety, Training, and other key functions to support a culture of safe project delivery, effective change management, and regulatory alignment. Also supports select remediation projects and conducts independent monitoring at high-risk sites.
- Project Risk Management and Loss Prevention leadership within the Liability Management organization to ensure fundamentals of safety culture and key safety programs, with a specific focus on fatal risk management, are functionally established for the spectrum of small to large projects within Remediation, Closure-Reclamation-LCAT/ET, and Discontinued Operations. Leads fatal risk management (FRM) and HAZOPS reviews on projects with work scopes that have increased worker exposures to possible high energy events and do not have SOPs for critical work elements (such as offloading materials, logistics, material excavation/removal, or construction).
- In close liaison with Health and Safety, Training, and Global Supply Chain, direct programmatic compliance with training requirements, FRM and other safety documentation, safety audits, ISN and contractual alignment with safety company safety initiatives. Contractor evaluation and onboarding activities are audited to improve safety and Stop Work cultures at all Liability Management projects. Reviews project training requirements consistent with identified project risks.
- Manages assigned remediation projects and programs; as requested supervises and supports staff remediation project managers in decision-making and project planning.
- Develops and deploys regiment of communication for change management to project managers contractors, subcontractors and suppliers as it relates to both safety and fiscal governance of Liability Management projects.
- Interfaces with corporate legal counsel, safety, training, land and water, accounting and finance groups regarding safety program implementation that impacts project schedules and costs. Provides independent oversight of safety and stability monitoring at United Verde (open pit) and Copper Queen (open pit, Queen Mine Tour) sites.
- In close coordination with GSC, coordinates contractor evaluation processes to facilitate project contractor qualification and selection.
- Maintains consistent and effective coordination and communications with corporate environmental group.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School/GED and twenty (20) years of broad-based site project implementation and management experience, including remediation, reclamation, and demolition project execution experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field, and fifteen (15) years of field/management experience, including remediation, reclamation, and demolition project execution experience, or
- Master’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field, and thirteen (13) years of field/management experience, including remediation, reclamation, and demolition project execution experience
- Advanced knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, and site investigation and remediation, as well as applicable Federal, State and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures
- Experience in managing support, engineering and project management staff and contractors; skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees and contractors
- Skilled in analyzing a wide range of project situations and able to recognize environmental, property damage and safety hazards
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing both safety and property damage hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, both orally and in writing
- Willingness to support team environment in the administration of remedial programs
- Ability to travel minimum 50%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other closely related field
- Twenty (20) years of broad-based work experience in earthworks, civil construction, and demolition project activities
- Prior experience in a similar role
- Experience in CERCLA or state equivalent cleanup programs, state-mandated or voluntary reclamation work, civil construction, (for example – pipelines, water treatment plants), and building demolition work
- Experience in design and construction activities for either remediation, reclamation, or demolition projects
- Experience managing consultants and contractors
