Please note:  This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time.  The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations.  This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois and New York.  Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors.  Should the position shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Manages, plans, and executes product-line and account level strategies in support of the Sales Company’s key objectives of assuring all mine production has channels to market, maximizing gross profit, and responsible cash management.

 

  • Manages multi-level and multi-functional customer relationships, domestically and internationally, via direct interaction with customers, assuring all mine production has channels to market, while maximizing gross profit and responsible cash management
  • Managing the effective interface of the customer within key FCX functions (inventory management, operations, logistics, treasury, etc.), and assuring that customer expectations are clearly represented and exceeded throughout the FCX organization
  • Negotiating and implementing sales agreement and contracts
  • Analyzing trends in sales figures, market supply/demand, order and logistics patterns
  • May direct the activities and develop a team for Sales and Customer Care
  • Developing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts at the customer and product level
  • Maintains relationship with Senior Management to efficiently coordinate and execute the order-to-cash process
  • Performs other duties as requested

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • This position requires air travel. In accordance with Freeport-McMoRan’s requirement for all employees whose job requires travel by air, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field and seven (7) years of experience with emphasis on sales or customer contact experience in high value, service intensive products with a focus on partnering to create tangible value for the assigned market and account base; OR
  • MBA and five (5) years of experience with emphasis on sales or customer contact experience in high value, service intensive products with a focus on partnering to create tangible value for the assigned market and account base

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • MBA
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute strategically
  • Advanced knowledge of the copper market, including hedging and commodity price management
  • Solid contract and negotiation ability
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining key account relationships at all levels of the customer organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and make sound business judgment in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures with minimal Corporate guidance
  • Seasoned performer with a successful track record in achieving objectives and generating results
  • Solid understanding of industrial marketing tools and techniques
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing process methodologies
  • Ability to understand and represent technical products, and interact effectively with technical personnel (R&D professionals, Operations and other key decision makers)
  • Must be self-motivated, client service oriented and a problem solver
  • Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must have superior interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively at all levels of the customer's organization
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% plus, including international travel

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator and internal staircase
  • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
