Where You Will Work    

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do

This position leads the strategic planning and execution of initiatives that support Water Management Solutions’ short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. The role is focused on reducing reliance on freshwater resources through enhanced water reuse and recycling, recovery of valuable constituents from secondary aqueous phases, and reduction of environmental impacts. Working across multiple disciplines, this position integrates expertise in water balance analysis, water process and treatment plant design, mining, processing, legal, environmental, and operational functions to identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement. The incumbent develops and scopes preferred solutions, secures financial approval for selected initiatives, and drives the design, implementation, and execution of practical and economically viable water efficiency and treatment projects.

  • Lead the evaluation and prioritization of water conservation and treatment opportunities by integrating water balance, water quality, and treatment data from subject matter experts and site operations to support Water Management Solutions objectives.
  • Develop project scopes and oversee or support the planning, design, and construction of new or modified water management systems, ensuring strong operational engagement, change management, and performance assurance.
  • Provide implementation support and technical troubleshooting for new and existing water management solutions to optimize performance, establish best practices, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Serve as a water management subject matter expert, leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external business partners to align on water management strategies and communicate project progress, recommendations, and outcomes.
  • Develop business cases, life-cycle analyses, and funding requests for water management projects while securing stakeholder support and approval.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and innovative solutions that enhance operational performance and improve safety.
  • Support strategic planning and budgeting activities, including the management of consulting, vendor, and service-related project budgets.
  • Performs other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering or related fields from an accredited curriculum and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering or related fields from an accredited curriculum and eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with mine water projects and may include water balance, water treatment, and/or project engineering and execution in a mining environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in English to a diversely educated audience
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Present a positive, professional image
  • Self-motivated, energetic, able to execute, and client-service oriented
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
  • Ability and willingness to travel on average at least five (5) weeks for every quarter

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or related certification/experience in financial and economic evaluations
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Energetic, excellent communication skills, ability to execute.
  • Management of large and complex projects covering several disciplines.
  • Experience with metal mining operations, with an understanding of hydrometallurgy and concentrating processes.
  • Expertise in modeling approaches to solving engineering challenges
  • Experience with cost estimating for civil/chemical/environmental projects, project scheduling and project controls
  • Able to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques in design projects and operational support
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficiency in using appropriate software for process design and plant design
  • Fluency in Spanish or Bahasa Indonesian languages

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $130,000-$180,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process.

What We Require
