Manages all aspects of and serves as Subject Matter Expert for FMMC Knowledge Management (KM) and associated systems.  Develops, implements, manages and governs Knowledge Management staff, systems, applications and procedures; integrates policies, procedures, and best practices. Evaluates tools to streamline KM processes and trains FMMC personnel in use and application of tools and KM systems.  Liaises closely with engineering and technical project document management staff and collaborates on development of processes and systems for integration with KM system.  

  • Understands and interprets the needs of FMMC business unit with respect to Knowledge Management.  Scopes, develops and maintains systems required to meet the identified needs.  Integrates these systems with existing ECM strategies, platforms and policies through collaboration and coordination with the Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Liaises with relevant internal groups on electronic and physical content management.  Applies standards and good practice to capture knowledge and to ensure that obsolete/superseded documents are removed from the work environment and only current revisions of necessary records are available at point of use.   Develops and manages appropriate mechanisms to monitor compliance with the established Knowledge Management system and takes early actions to correct any deviations from good governance practices.
  • Ensures consistency of knowledge management processes across all FMMC departments and provides training, information and guidance to the knowledge management system users.
  • Liaises with users and managers of the FMMC project document management system for FMMC managed capital projects throughout the project lifecycle to enable collaboration, sharing and the ability to search and discover documents.  Integrates project document management with Knowledge Management systems including transition of knowledge from project to FMMC KM Site.
  • Manages a team of Document Control Specialists and other administrative staff.  Provides direction and coaching regarding task and project prioritization, initiation, execution and issue resolution.
  • Manages faceted taxonomies and metadata structures, establishes and/or updates standardized taxonomies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Works on complex issues, implements solutions through determination of strategy, delegation to others in a group or functional area.
  • Collaborates with VPs, directors, managers and/or functional or site leaders and has some interation with external colleagues.
  • Works under limited supervision and has significant latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may impact multiple groups or functional areas within the company
  • Assists with budget preparation and monitoring for KM area.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Information Services, Communication, Business Administration, or related field and nine (9) years of experience directly related to setting up, configuring and maintaining the Document Management System for corporate groups.
  • Experience managing documents in multiple platforms:  Office 365 applications, cloud-based shared drives, Aconex, etc.
  • Working technical knowledge of databases as it relates to document management platforms.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office365 products, with high competency in SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive applications.
  • Ability to work across technical backgrounds, ranging from training users, to working with SharePoint architects.
  • Strong (oral and written) communication and documentation skills.
  • Must work well under pressure and time constraints.
  • Must be a self-starter, quick learner and highly productive.
  • Strong business ethics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Information Services, Communication, Business Administration, or related field and twelve (12) years of experience directly related to setting up, configuring and maintaining Knowledge Management Systems for corporate groups as well as large capital projects.
  • Experience in change management a plus.
  • Previous experience in developing Knowledge Management Systems for multi-disciplinary businesses.
  • Previous experience in document control and management for large capital projects.
  • Aconex certification.


  • Fluent English (oral and writing) is required. Spanish as an additional language is preferred.
  • The role will generally be based in the Corporate Office (Phoenix).
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Position is in a busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Locations requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by an elevator.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
