Description

Under general supervision, plans and performs Mining Engineering duties related to development and production at assigned site.
 
  • Develops mining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long range planning and production goals
  • Participates in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements
  • Assists in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates
  • Monitors mining methods and equipment to improve performance
  • Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures and equipment
  • Assists in developing and managing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps and stockpile designs
  • Recommends courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment
  • Works with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities
  • Monitors mine ventilation and air quality at working sites throughout the mine
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
  • Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
