Please note: This position has the possibility of working remotely within 150 miles of Phoenix, Arizona for a percentage of the scheduled work time, as determined by the supervisor. Execute internal communications strategy and ongoing support model that will drive our Safe Production Matters culture through proactive, high impact, engaging and broadly applicable media to build awareness, adoption and engagement of our workforce.

  • Support development, evolution and execution of materials that broadlycommunicate the company’s ambitious and clear vision; translate ‘our story’effectively to all audiences to ensure the Safe Production Matters culture, supportedby Freeport Edge behaviors, is embodied across the organization through variousmediums (e.g., videos, emails, app posts, blog posts, etc.).
  • Work closely with DOHS and key stakeholders to build proactive, timely, transparent,compelling and engaging communications that showcase successes and learningsacross the organization to boost broad adoption of Safe Production Matterssupported by Freeport Edge behaviors.
  • Assist with the writing, editing, coordination of creative / design and delivery of avariety of communications materials for multiple communications channels andbroad audiences with differing access to technology including social posts, videos,articles, emails, etc.
  • Serve as communications partner, providing feedback and recommendations to sitecommunication staff on safety initiatives and projects.
  • Collect and use analytics to make informed decisions about content and storytellingand deliver on measurable goals aligned to specific project goals.
  • Improve organization and presence of safety communications on company intranetby crafting a compelling, easy to consume library of content.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


Minimum Requirements:

This position requires air travel. In accordance with Freeport-McMoRan’s requirement for all employees whose job requires travel by air, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.

  • Bachelor's Degree AND seven (7) years of experience in Corporate Communications, Health and Safety Communications, Public Safety or related field; OR
  • Master's Degree AND five (5) years of experience in Corporate Communications, Health and Safety Communications, Public Safety or related field
  • Strong demonstration of writing, editing and verbal communication skills and knowledge of AP Style
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Excellent command of grammar and knowledge of AP writing style
  • Thorough understanding of graphic design concepts
  • Strong writing, editing and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and on deadline
  • Skilled at collaborating within and outside of department
  • Ability to quickly understand and effectively communicate complex, technical subject matter
  • Strong work ethic and able to work at a fast pace, while maintaining high accuracy and quick turnaround time on assigned projects
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and oversee high-visibility projects and processes
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and short deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with latest health and safety, crisis management, and industry standards and trends
  • Experience in a multi-location organization with multi-national/global communications and mining, natural resources or similar industry
  • Bilingual



  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor,manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses,safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, glovesand any other protective equipment as required.

  • Positions which are held by employees who operate equipment, machinery or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing the essential functions of their job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose "motor vehicles" includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel); or
  • Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.
