Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do
Third‑Party Manufacturing & Technical Partnerships
- Build, qualify, and manage third‑party manufacturing partners in the U.S. and globally for chemical additives production.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for external manufacturers—owning tech transfer, process validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all partner operations meet Freeport’s standards for safety, quality, environmental compliance, and regulatory performance.
- Drive cost optimization by improving yield, throughput, and process efficiency across the external manufacturing network.
Commercialization & Supply Readiness
- Partner with commercial, supply chain, and customer-facing teams to ensure smooth product launches, scale ramps, and long-term supply reliability.
- Define product specifications, QC methods, and acceptance criteria with QA/QC teams to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
- Support customer technical engagements—representing manufacturing capabilities, scale strategy, and quality assurance.
Cross‑Functional Programs & Technical Strategy
- Lead large, cross‑functional teams spanning R&D, manufacturing, quality, procurement, supply chain, and EHS.
- Develop technical strategies, scale‑up plans, and project timelines while managing multiple concurrent programs.
- Champion a culture of operational excellence focused on safety, quality, and performance across internal teams and external partners.
R&D-to-Commercial Scale-Up
- Lead development, optimization, and scale‑up of chemical additive processes from lab to pilot to full commercial production.
- Establish readiness criteria, transfer packages, and validation frameworks to ensure seamless technology transfer to manufacturing.
- Identify scale‑up risks and implement mitigation strategies for successful commercialization.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and 15 years of experience in process development, scale-up, and manufacturing of fine chemicals, advanced materials, or chemical additives; OR
- Master’s degree in a related field and 13 years of experience in the same areas; OR
- PhD degree in a related field and 8 years of experience in the same areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success transferring multiple chemical processes from R&D to pilot and commercial scale.
- Hands-on experience with external manufacturing networks, including JVs, CDMOs, and CMOs.
- Strong background in process safety, hazard analysis (PHA/HAZOP), and regulatory-compliant chemical manufacturing.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex process, quality, and scale‑related challenges.
- Global experience across regions such as the Americas, China, and India.
- Expertise in:
- R&D-to-manufacturing translation and tech transfer
- External manufacturing partner management
- Cost, yield, and throughput optimization
- Process safety and risk management
- Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder engagement
- Clear technical communication across internal and external audiences

Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
