Description

Pursues value by promoting data as a global corporate asset by collaborating with business process owners and MIS developers to develop logical data models for expressing business data requirements that integrate with the enterprise data model. Lead the creation of physical database designs for implementing new data requirements. Empowered to establish content guidelines, collection processes and other activities necessary for building out the enterprise data catalog. Will also serve as the lead content contributor to the catalog. Develops and coaches others in data modeling techniques, use of the data catalog and advanced SQL concepts.

  • Drives the development of data requirements through data modeling techniques and structuring working sessions. Collaborate with others then takes action to express data requirements as 3rd Normal Form logical data models through review of source system documentation, review of system features and workshop sessions with business partners.
  • Partner with source system experts to develop and maintain the data catalog in a manner which allows business users to find relevant content and write queries.
  • Create physical database designs for the Snowflake data warehouse and other database technologies in partnership with other technical resources.
  • Partner with key business SMEs to build and manage the workgroup database view library by building relevant data shapes in SQL
  • Coach others in the use of the data catalog and advanced SQL coding.
  • Develop metrics and implement processes for measuring and evaluating use of the Global BI platforms and services
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information systems or related field and five (5) years of experience in the information services, including four (4) years of experience with assigned area technologies.
  • Knowledge of requirements development, requirements analysis and operations management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of experience in information services with (4) years of experience working in a data administration, database administrator or BI data warehouse environment.
  • Expert knowledge of data model using IDEF1X or similar data modeling methodologies.
  • Experience with data modeling tools like ER Studio or ERwin.
  • Experience leading joint design sessions and working in groups.

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Position requires global collaboration with teams in Indonesia and India many times requiring evening meetings.
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
