Please note:  This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time.  The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations.  This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois and New York.  Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors.  Should the position shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Under intermittent supervision, work with project teams to implement innovative technology solutions to internal FMI clients and business units. Collaborate with business units and others within the Management Information Services (MIS) group to, develop, test, coordinate, implement, support, and enhance technical solutions. Follow defined quality and process guidelines and maintain a global perspective of the solution and its value to the organization.

  • Develop, test, implement and support custom business applications and automated solutions with intermittent supervision
  • Consult with FMI business units, the Infrastructure Group and other applications development groups or FMI customers to define system scope and objectives based on user needs
  • Analyze business and system needs in terms of programming requirements and be able to provide accurate work estimates for planning purposes
  • Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to defined problems and recommend the most appropriate course of action.
  • Identify and document procedures for the installation and maintenance of specified business applications.
  • Respond to and resolve system outages and enhancement requests
  • Evaluate and modify existing programs to take into account changes in system requirements, business requirements, equipment configurations, inefficiencies and/or issue resolution
  • Select, configure, integrate and implement packaged software solutions where appropriate with moderate supervision
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business or related degree and three (3) years of experience in applications development, integration, and support.
    OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) years of equivalent level experience in applications development, integration, and support.
  • Basic knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work self-directed from identifying opportunities to implementing solutions.
  • Ability to follow safety practices and recognizing hazards.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming in C#
  • Experience with developing application on Microsoft Azure cloud platform

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
